4DAYS AEGEAN ISLANDS CRUISE
(Mykonos, Patmos, Kusadasi,
Rhodes, Heraklion, Santorini)
MYKONOS
Mykonos is world famous. It
is the most cosmopolitan
of the Greek Islands
and attracts many visitors
from all over the globe, including
large
numbers of artists and intellectuals.
PATMOS (The island
of "Apocalypsis")
Patmos is well known for the
monastery of St. John as
well as for its sacred
mystique atmosphere. The monastery
of St. John is built within
the walls of a strong fortification.
KUSADASI
A tour to nearby Ephesus should
not be missed, for here history
truly
comes to life. Walking towards
the ancient harbour, down a
marble
road rutted by the wheels of
countless chariots, you pass
architectural masterpieces
like the Library of Celsus
before arriving at
the Great Amphitheatre where
St. Paul preached. Enjoy free
time in
Kusadasi or get a cultural
taste of Turkey by enjoying
an exhibition of
oriental carpets and jewellery.
RHODES
When gods divided the world
among themselves, so an ancient
legend goes, Helios (the
sun god) noticed an island
emerging from the sea. He
was so fascinated by its
beauty that he immediately
asked Zeus whether he might
have this island as his share.
Rhodes was that island, an
island that glided, and glides
still, like a dolphin, over
the waves in the transparent
seas of the south - eastern
Aegean, where West meets
East.
CRETE
Crete is the land of Daidalos
and Ikaros, of Minoan vases
and frescoes ...the home of
El Greco and Kazantzakis, Southernmost
outpost of Greece and of Europe,
the island of Crete was the
cradle of Europe's oldest civilization,
the brilliant Minoan maritime
imperium which included the
Cycladic islands, the Peloponesse
and parts of Sicily, over three
thousand
years ago. It is the largest
island in Greece and exhibits
an astonishing range of natural
contrasts: from dry, Rocky
Mountains to valleys and hills
carpeted in greenery. It is
located in the crossroad of
three continents and separates
the Agean Sea from the Lybian.
SANTORINI
In Santorini, every single
stone has its share of glory.
A glory
arising from the grandeur of
its landscape. What makes it
so different from any other
island is its imposing landscape,
the caldera with its impressionistic
contrast of colors, its terrifying
birth....This is a small island,
located at the south end of
the Cyclades island complex.

MYKONOS
Mykonos is world famous. It
is not a coincidence that this,
the most cosmopolitan of all
Greek islands, attracts so
may visitors from all over
the globe, including large
number of artists and intellectuals.
Here, the steep mountains to
be encountered in most of the
Cyclades give way to low, rocky
hills which combine with superb
beaches to make up the landscape
of the island. The capital,
Hora, with its colorful harbor,
in which little fishing boats
nestle happily side by side
with luxury yachts, presents
quite a different picture from
the majority of the Aegean
islands towns. While it is
unusual for Greek island villages
to be built on naturally amphitheatrically
sites, Mykonos is spread out
over a flat area and conveys
an impression of solid aesthetic
cohesion.
Along the whitewashed streets
brilliant white box – shaped
houses stand with stepped walls
for sitting on, wooden doors
and windows and brightly coloured
balconies. These are full of
small but impressive churches,
pretty little tavernas and
shops selling souvenirs and
other goods, and the overall
sense is of being inside a
film set.
Here lovers of the sea will
find out – standing golden
beaches such as Agios Stefanos,
Psarou, Kalafatis Platis Gialos,
Ornos, Elia and Panormos. Mykonos
is a busy island with all the
amenities of modern resort
and with plenty to do – by
day or night – for those who
want to have a lively time.
Yet visitors fond of more
peaceful holidays will still
find quiet corners in which
to relax.

Delphi Full
Day
"... Now the serene sense is
supping with the Gods"
This was the sense of the
poet Angelos Sikelianos who,
between 1927 and 1930, revived
the Delphic Festival, in Delphi
the centre of earth, wishing
to "instill the forgotten
Delphic watchword in all human
souls".
Driving through the mountains
we reach the little village
of Delphi. We will visit the
museum of Delphi with its spectacular
findings including the world
famous Charioteer, the Naxian
Sphinx, the statue of Antinoos.
We will wonder at the ancient
sanctuary of Apollo, a place
with history coming from Mythology
with the oracle and the prophecy.
The guided visit to the archaeological
site and the museum will travel
us to ancient times. Lunch
will take place in a local
traditional restaurant in Arachova
or Galaxidi, depending on the
time schedule and then we will
return to Athens. |
